The Winch arrived, safe and sound. They weren’t kidding, it’s
quite heavy. It still has the factory wire rope installed. I am not
sure if I’ll swap it out for synthetic or not, I plan to run
synthetic on the Husky 10 I am going to replace this one with, but

With the Winch (108 lbs) being delivered tomorrow, I needed the ‘Disco
running in order to bring it home from work. The bumper will be here,
radomly, any day. So it was time to get the truck back together!

Victoria has finished stripping and painting the ‘Disco with POR-15 -
now all that’s left is for me to do the sheet metal fabrication and

Discovery has a (thankfully) non structural steel frame supporting
aluminum body panels. Much talk is made about how your Discovery won’t
rust because its made of aluminum; but as you can readily see, the
rust protection is only skin deep.

The body panel arrived, and is the right part. I definitly see this coming
together with a bit of metal work and maybe a tiny bit of fabrication. I hope
to start this weekend, with my new 30,000BTU propane heater to keep me warm.

The powertank has been installed thanks to a handy rubber gripper
bracket. And the new tyres are in! I’ll get them installed Saturday. I
also
ordered a new front chassis assembly, the whole thing, so I can begin
repairs of the deer damage finally.
