Ladder Installed

I installed the rear-door ladder on the ‘Rover last night. The
installation was pretty painless. They provided very large screws,
but, I’ve never had good luck using self-tapping screws into sheet metal
aluminum so I wanted to go with rivets instead. I found the biggest
ones I could, which were perfect, and then just riveted it on instead.

Bodywork FINISHED!

It probably won’t be said that Alex’s body shop is quick, but, let
it not be said that we didn’t get the job done. With a little spurt
of warm weather, we put the final trim piece and turn signal in,
and now everything is back to pre-deer condition.

Optima Battery

I did some tests with the winch today to make sure everything is working properly,
which it is, but I also discovered that the battery that came with the truck
is entirely inadequate. It’s been replaced with a new heavy-duty marine
Optima battery.

Masterpull Installed

My Masterpull synthetic winch line came today. I went with 3/8″ rather
than 5/16″; mostly for a little more piece of mind and hopefully
for a little easier handling. I got 100 feet, the same length as the
wire line superwinch gave me, and was a little worried about the thicker

Remington: Now Featuring 2 Headlights

Victoria is out in the cold carefully sanding, spraying adhesion
promoter, and finally spraypainting the replacement trim panel for
the front of the truck. In the meantime I replaced the headlight.
The new bulb I put in made me realize how yellow and awful the other
one was, so I had to replace that one too! The trim panel [...]
