Winch Remote
Feb 5th, 2005 by C. Alexander Leigh
Today was surprisingly nice – the last nice day we’ll have all week,
if you believe the weather (I don’t, particularly). One problem that
was exposed last trip to KS Rocks was that the location of the winch
remote – hidden underneath the truck – is at best hard to get to,
and at worst, dangerous to get to when the truck is buried.
I got some heavy duty extension cable, and covered it in a mylar
protective sleeve. Using a draw-punch, I put a hole in the top of the
grill-work and mounted the remote there, then ran the cable down
to the solenoid box on the which where I connected everything. The
Superwinch winch jack is 4 connector, but the remote only uses 3,
so I just left the fourth wire unconnected.
