Harrison Beach
Jul 22nd, 2006 by C. Alexander Leigh
Photos from our truck-camping trip around the Olympic Penninsula with Tom Byrd. We stayed at a little nook of a RV resort at Harrison Beach, which was really great. I can’t wait to get back there (in fall, insallah) with our Airstream and maybe unwind for a couple of days.
The campground is located at 48° 9’23.73″N 123°50’4.31″W and had a nominal fee. (360) 928-3006
The star gazing was absolutely great from this location. The beach itself has good northernly views (you can see Vancouver Island accross the water), but is blocked to the south. There are probably other good areas nearby to get a good open view. In general (due to the clearcuts, sadly) there are many good spots to pull over and getout a telescope in the olympics, particularly on the western side of the range.
