Can You Hear Me Now?

Yesterday I worked on the antenna mount for my truck, which has been a cause of various problems. Frankly I am pretty luke-warm to the entire setup, the way I have it, particularly with the ATAS-120. I bought a very beefy mount, but, due to the way the ATAS-120 mounts vibrations and what not tend to have it loosen up on it’s own over time. Worse, it’s a constant problem for trees, etc.
What I may end up doing is putting a small 2M whip up there and then building a hitch mount for the ATAS-120 which is only good for when I want to do HF work on “special occasions” anyways. It’s tough telling which aspects of radio I am really going to get into using, though.
With last night’s fixes I am coming through loud and clear on WW7RA repeater, both on 2M and 70cm. This repeater is located about 30 miles away. Bryan (KE5KOA) dialed in from Austin, TX to WW7RA UHF and we chatted for awhile. Signal reports were good. Now I have to make up Adventioneering QSL cards so I can send him one.
