NF-56 Permanent Closure
Jun 29th, 2007 by C. Alexander Leigh

The Seattle PI reports that NF-56 will be closed 7.26 miles from it’s terminus in the upper Middle Creek valley. This puts the closure at approximately 47°32’5.97″N 121°29’11.10″W.
This is really too bad, and it’s not my opinion that this closure and closures like it are in the public’s interest. In this case in particular it’s our understanding that the government is going to continue to pay to maintain the road anyways, but will simply deny public access for a variety of specious reasons. This is what happens when people do not get involved.
If you are in the greater Seattle area, your next opportunity to be heard about the other suggested road closures and to speak out in general is July 9th, 6-8pm, at the flagship REI. For more information see the master planning website.
