Maine Off-Roading & Camping
May 17th, 2009 by C. Alexander Leigh

We headed up with Jordan & Hilary this weekend to a sort-of off-road park in Maine. What’s happened is some guy with 400 acres has basically opened up his land for any reasonable sort of off-roading and tenting use. A real gem, because in New England public land access is basically a non-existant.
The only real wrinkle of the trip was it turns out those morons at REI sold us the Mountain Hardwear tent we did want (we needed a tent in the hurry because we lost the poles to our OTHER tents), but the fly for some random REI-brand tent. It didn’t fit at all, but thankfully hil had a tarp. It rained all night but we stayed 99.99% dry with our jerry-rigged setup, even if it reminded us of the Satanist camp a little.
Jordan’s stocker jeep did admirally well and only needed pulling a couple of times.
… we also made a map.
