Stargazing
Sep 24th, 2009 by C. Alexander Leigh

Maybe a little bored and restless, we set out to find a place away from the city to see the stars. I originally thought to go out to the Naches Observatory but it’s pretty far (something like 180km?) and I am glad I didn’t. Instead, we headed up to that spot I had taken JG before. I remember thinking at the time it would be a great place to see the stars, and it was. The spot is at N47 47.794 W121 15.745 if anyone wants to head up there.
There were plenty of falling stars and M31 was promiment. I realized how much about the constellations I had forgotten but some old familiar things were still there. Michael is the one who caught that great shot of the city glow above.
I don’t have my Meade ETX90 anymore, just the binoculars which are really better suited to spotting and bird-watching. The real trick would probably to get Tom to come out on a camping trip to Naches, provided we can get more clear weather, so he could give his telescope some exercise. Tom!

I am glad the red springs show up from the front.
They do indeed!
