Golden Tunnel Mine Gets Weirder
Sep 25th, 2009 by C. Alexander Leigh
Someone PM’d me to let me know that the coordinates I had from the USGS for the Golden Tunnel mine are wrong, and that they believe the mine (at least one people have found) to be south of HWY 2 upstream from the yellow jacket mine.
I start to wonder if anybody actually found the GT mine then, and that it wasn’t some other mine. There are a ton of mines in the Index area and I haven’t run across one with a big sign proclaiming which one it is yet.
Here’s a map that includes that area, perhaps some kind soul will recognize the location and clear this up for me. Note the Yellow Jacket is on here, but there is no matching upstream mine.
All this reading about the location of the mine is rather amusing. I know a secret and I’m not going to tell. Where did you catch that big fish? In the mouth.
Just out of curiosity, where did you find that map with the yellow jacket mine?
I have found it…did so by actually doing the research you only talk about. The only thing weird is watching you trying to downplay the importance of the mine while trying to entice others to locate it for you. If you want it bad enough, you will find it.
